Mash-In

Performing the mash-in by mixing strike water and the grist
I mix my grist and strike water in the tun

I dump the water out of my tun, add a small amount of fresh strike water to cover the manifold slits, then perform the mash-in. Strike water and grist are mixed together and stirred until I reach the desired consistency and temperature.



Now that the mash is like I want it, I put in the probe and wait

Once again the probe helps me accurately monitor my mash temperature. I'm careful not to let the wire fall into the mash.
